ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ALL systems are self-contained within a cabinet with a Power Supply, Battery Charger, Amplifier, Microphone, Supervised Initiating Circuit and One Speaker Supervisory Circuit. Systems are expandable to any audio power and zones. All systems have space within the cabinet for batteries.

  • Q 1: What is the MINIMUM size system?
    A 1: 50-Watt, One Speaker Circuit

  • Q 2: Can systems be expanded?
    A 2:
Yes. To any number of circuits and for any audio power requirement.

  • Q 3: Can I expand a system that is already installed?
    A 3:
Yes. All systems are modular. If expander modules cannot be accommodated within the existing cabinet, add-on cabinets can be used. Contact the factory for guidance on the least expensive way to expand systems.

  • Q 4: Can more than one circuit be associated with a zone?
    A 4:
Yes. More than one circuit can be slaved to a primary zone. Activation of the primary zone will also activate the slave circuits.

  • Q 5: How far can I place the EVAC 101 & 2101 from my FACP?
    A 5:
The initiating wiring between the FACP or other source is supervised by the EVAC system. The initiating source can be placed up to 2000 ft from the EVAC system.

  • Q 6: Can I have two separate speaker circuits per zone with separate amplifiers powering each circuit?
    A 6:
Yes. Some specifications require "interleaved" speakers so that failure of one circuit or amplifier will not affect the other circuit.

  • Q 7: Can the system be configured with custom messages and tones?
    A 7:
Yes. Just send us the text of the message and the tones together with the type of tone and the sequence of messages and tones (e.g. number of tones prior to the number of message repetitions before the sequence repeats). You will have to provide a tape of text in a language other than English. Please contact the factory for details.

  • Q 8: Can the system have Standby Power Supplies and Amplifiers?
    A 8:
Yes. The system can be arranged to have one Power Supply and Amplifier for each primary Power Supply and Amplifier OR have one Standby Power Supply and Amplifier for a group of Primary Power Supplies and Amplifiers.

  • Q 9: Can I connect Strobe Supervisory Modules to the EVAC systems?
    A 9:
Yes. Modules are available for all systems.

  • Q 10: Can I page from a remote location?
    A 10:
Yes. The RMT-PG unit can be connected to the system. The unit is supervised and has a highlevel audio output that significantly improves the signal-to-noise characteristic.

  • Q 11: How many Remote Paging Units can be connected to a system?
    A 11:
    Any number.

  • Q 12: Can I install the back-box first and then the rest of the system?
    A 12:
Yes. The internal assemblies are mounted on back-plates and are removable for later installation.

  • Q 13: Can the cabinets be flush-fitted?
    A 13:
The cabinets can be semi-flush fitted using a CAB-TRIM kit.

  • Q 14: Can I field-select the output voltage to the speaker circuits?
    A 14:
Yes. All systems can be selected for 25 or 70 v speakers.

  • Q 15: Can the system be configured for floor above/below?
    A 15:
Yes. There is a matrix on each switch card that can be programmed for this feature.

  • Q 16: Can the system be used as Distributed Audio System?
    A 16:
Yes. There are a number of options. Just send us details of what you require.

  • Q 17: Is the Fire Fighter Telephone System stand-alone?
    A 17:
Yes. The system has its own Power Supply and Charger. It can be used as a stand-alone system or used with our EVAC systems.

  • Q 18: I have an existing EVAC system that was installed some time ago. There is inadequate audio power at certain locations. How can I increase audio power without running extra wires from the existing Central Control?
    A 18:
We can supply distributed units that are activated when audio is present on the wiring to a location. The audio from the Central Control is amplified by the unit and provides the extra power to the zone. The wiring to the Central Control will remain supervised and any trouble on a speaker circuit will also be transmitted to the Central Control. Contact the factory for details.

  • Q 19: How much standby can I expect from a system?
    A 19:
All systems have a Power Saver Mode that reduces power requirement when primary power is not available. Systems can be configured for 24, 60, or 72 hours standby.

  • Q 20: How many Messages can the system provide?
    A 20:
Any number. Contact the factory for your requirements.
